Easter Egg Ornament Kit (Makes 12)

Description

The Easter Egg Ornament Kit makes one dozen stuffed Easter eggs that are 3″ wide and 3¾″ tall.  These are really cute eggs that can be used on a table display, hung on a branch or tree to make an egg tree, hung in a window, or use your imagination.  They make great gifts for a special friend.

This kit also makes a great group project.  Why not invite some friends over, make a nice pot of tea or coffee, and put the kit together.  With 12 eggs you could invite a lot of friends or have each friend make more than one.

Everything you need to start is right in the package including precision cut wool felt, pre-cut stuffing, floss, a sewing needle and instructions.

Instructions:

1. 1.  Pin together the decorations onto each of the 24 egg bodies making 4 of each particular design. You can use the arrangement shown on the box cover or create your own combination.
   2. Trim the ends of the decorations to match the edges of the egg bodies.
   3. Blanket stitch the large stripes to the egg bodies. Do not blanket stitch the outer edge of the egg bodies at this time.
   4. Back stitch the centers of the waves, zig zags, and narrow stripes to the egg bodies.
   5. Attach the chains, hearts, and pennies to the bodies using French knots.
   6. Add decorative French knots as appropriate.
   7. Place two of the same design bodies together back to back with stuffing in the middle and blanket stitch the outer edge.
   8. Add a loop to the top of each egg for hanging on your favorite tree or in your window.

Our wool felt is Made in the USA from wool grown in the USA.  It is a blend of 35% wool and 65% rayon.

Why A Blend? 

• Our goal was to have a blend that is close to the wool/cotton blend which has been in use for hundreds of years through out the world.
• The wool/cotton blend was favored over 100% wool or 100% cotton as the combination provided much better service
  • The wool provided strength and warmth while the cotton added breathability and softness to touch.
  • It was an ideal combination for all kinds of weather and purposes.
• Rayon and cotton are almost identical with cotton being a little bit softer and rayon being more silky or shinny on the surface.

How are Rayon and Cotton Different?

• Rayon is made from cellulose, a carbohydrate plant substance, derived from wood and wood pulp which is then made into fibers.
• Cotton is made of cellulose fibers from the cotton plant.
