Ladybug Purse Kit – Green

Description

The  Ladybug Purse Kit makes a ~5½” x  10″ purse with a shoulder strap ribbon and a wooden ladybug button.  It has an Iphone hidden pocket inside.  Its an adorable purse big enough for essentials such as wallet, keys, cell phone, and other necessities.

Everything you need to start is right in the package including precision cut wool felt, floss, ladybug button, a sewing needle and instructions.

Instructions

1. Blanket stitch the rectangular pocket to the inside of a front section and a second pocket to the inside of a back section.
2. On the outside of the second front section blanket stitch the heart in place and add veins using a backstitch. Add ladybug bodies and wings using a blanket stitch. Add the ladybug eyes and spots using French knots of the appropriate color.
3. Chain stitch the feelers for the ladybugs and add trails using a backstitch.
4. Lay out the ladybugs on the flap near the button hole as shown and stitch in place.
5. One ladybug, who escaped, is on the back of the purse. Don’t forget to add her.
6. Taking the two front sections, blanket stitch the top edge only, joining the two sections together.
7. Taking the two back sections, blanket stitch the button hole.
8. Assemble the front and back into the purse shape and blanket stitch the entire edge. Remember to insert the ribbon into the top fold region just before stitching.
9. Take the wooden ladybug button and coat it with 2 coats of clear fingernail polish. When dry, stitch the button in place.We hope you enjoy your Ladybug Purse with two internal pockets and an escaped ladybug on the back.

Our wool felt is Made in the USA from wool grown in the USA.  It is a blend of 35% wool and 65% rayon.

Why A Blend? 

• Our goal was to have a blend that is close to the wool/cotton blend which has been in use for hundreds of years through out the world.
• The wool/cotton blend was favored over 100% wool or 100% cotton as the combination provided much better service
  • The wool provided strength and warmth while the cotton added breathability and softness to touch.
  • It was an ideal combination for all kinds of weather and purposes.
• Rayon and cotton are almost identical with cotton being a little bit softer and rayon being more silky or shinny on the surface.

How are Rayon and Cotton Different?

• Rayon is made from cellulose, a carbohydrate plant substance, derived from wood and wood pulp which is then made into fibers.
• Cotton is made of cellulose fibers from the cotton plant.
