Mary’s Woolly Sheep Garland Kit makes a 4+ foot long (48+″) garland of five 6″ heart ornaments.  The five endearing sheep would like to come live at your house.  They are a fun loving flock that doesn’t require tending, but will bring much delight to all who see them.  They can be stitched to the ribbon included with the kit and hung on a wall, mantle, or anywhere else in your home that needs a woolly decoration.  You can use them as separate heart ornaments and can be given as gifts to your five favorite “besties”.

Everything you need to start is right in the package including precision cut wool felt, floss, ribbon, a sewing needle and instructions.

Instructions:

1. Blanket stitch the sheep body and head to each heart using black floss.
2. Backstitch decorative curls to the cream bodies using black floss.
3. Chain stitch the legs and tail with black floss.
4. Use French knots to make the eyes with cream floss.
5. Backstitch the mouth, eyebrows, and text with cream floss.
6. Pin the decorated hearts back to back, for hearts of the same color.
7. Pin the assembled hearts on the ribbon, spacing as desired.
8. Blanket stitch, with cream floss, the edge of each heart assembly, which also anchors the ribbon in place.

Our wool felt is Made in the USA from wool grown in the USA.  It is a blend of 35% wool and 65% rayon.

Why A Blend? 

• Our goal was to have a blend that is close to the wool/cotton blend which has been in use for hundreds of years through out the world.
• The wool/cotton blend was favored over 100% wool or 100% cotton as the combination provided much better service
  • The wool provided strength and warmth while the cotton added breathability and softness to touch.
  • It was an ideal combination for all kinds of weather and purposes.
• Rayon and cotton are almost identical with cotton being a little bit softer and rayon being more silky or shinny on the surface.

How are Rayon and Cotton Different?

• Rayon is made from cellulose, a carbohydrate plant substance, derived from wood and wood pulp which is then made into fibers.
• Cotton is made of cellulose fibers from the cotton plant.
