Instructions
- Place a pin in the location of each blossom’s center on only one green cozy base being careful to match the box photo.
- Bring your needle up from the back side to the center position of a blossom.
- Fold each heart in half, stacking them on the needle near the point of the folded heart.
- Repeat for each petal of the blossom. If the blossom has two layers of petals (small and large hearts), you will have to stack a small heart and large heart together prior to folding and stacking on the needle.
- Draw the needle tight, arranging the petals into a blossom.
- The needle goes back down through the center. Continue to arrange the blossom as you tighten the thread.
- Add the decorative crows foot on each petal stack which serves to anchor the petals in place and decorate the blossom.
- Repeat for each blossom.
- Repeat for the back side of the cozy as there are blossoms on both sides.
- Stack two plain green bases between the decorated sides formin the double layer thick cozy.
- Blanket stitch the outer edge through all four layers, but do not stitch the bottom.
- On the bottom edges, blanket stitch one decorated layer and one plain layer together, then flip the cozy over and repeat for the opposite bottom edge.
- Form the handle by laying out a pansy blossom on a penny, making two which are mirror images.
- Pin both back to back over the top of the cosy, forming the handle, and blanket stitch the edges.
Our wool felt is Made in the USA from wool grown in the USA. It is a blend of 35% wool and 65% rayon.
Why A Blend?
- Our goal was to have a blend that is close to the wool/cotton blend which has been in use for hundreds of years through out the world.
- The wool/cotton blend was favored over 100% wool or 100% cotton as the combination provided much better service
- The wool provided strength and warmth while the cotton added breathability and softness to touch.
- It was an ideal combination for all kinds of weather and purposes.
- Rayon and cotton are almost identical with cotton being a little bit softer and rayon being more silky or shinny on the surface.
How are Rayon and Cotton Different?
- Rayon is made from cellulose, a carbohydrate plant substance, derived from wood and wood pulp which is then made into fibers.
- Cotton is made of cellulose fibers from the cotton plant.
