Instructions:
- COOKIES: Each cookie has 2 top layers, 2 middle cream layers, and 2 bottom layers of the same shape. Assemble each cookie stack. Blanket Stitch the edge of two cream layers together from each stack. To the two top layers add a Back Stitch about ¼” from the outside edge of the cookie. Repeat for the two bottom layers. Starting on the inside surface of the top layer, bring your needle through to the top and form a French Knot. Go back down through the top, cream, and bottom layers, and form a French Knot on the outside surface of the bottom layer. Go back up through to the top layer but come up about ½” from the first French Knot and make another. Repeat until there are between 8 and 18 knots depending on the cookie style.
- CHOCOLATES: Use a Back Stitch with green floss to attach a leaf to the center square portion of each cross-shaped chocolate body. Using brown floss, Blanket Stitch the edges joining the side seams together to form a box. Just before closing the bottom of the box, insert the stuffing and then finish the stitching.
- TEA BAG: To make the tea bag tag, Blanket Stitch a heart to a cream square. Blanket Stitch two cream square assemblies back to back. To make the bag, fold the tan rectangle in half, Blanket Stitch the two opposite sides. Gather the open top edge together with a couple of stitches and place a knot in the center of the edge. Leave about 3″ of floss, then attach the tag to the bag with a knot.
Our wool felt is Made in the USA from wool grown in the USA. It is a blend of 35% wool and 65% rayon.
Why A Blend?
- Our goal was to have a blend that is close to the wool/cotton blend which has been in use for hundreds of years through out the world.
- The wool/cotton blend was favored over 100% wool or 100% cotton as the combination provided much better service
- The wool provided strength and warmth while the cotton added breathability and softness to touch.
- It was an ideal combination for all kinds of weather and purposes.
- Rayon and cotton are almost identical with cotton being a little bit softer and rayon being more silky or shinny on the surface.
How are Rayon and Cotton Different?
- Rayon is made from cellulose, a carbohydrate plant substance, derived from wood and wood pulp which is then made into fibers.
- Cotton is made of cellulose fibers from the cotton plant.
